    I mean by the looks of the way 3d printers are going, looks like the market is down. No one seems interested anymore, and they are either too expensive or very cheap because no one wants them. This machine needs to be 100 dollar cheaper, then I could see myself buying one. A lot of 3d printers are so cheap right now, they are all going down in price all the time.

    • @3rdpig
      @3rdpig 8 годин тому

      Where's your proof that the market for 3D printers is down and "no one wants them"? If you're going to make statements like that you should give some cites. Cause I gotta tell you, if the market were down and no one wanted or was interested, we wouldn't be seeing new models released like we are.

    • @oneanother1
      @oneanother1 8 годин тому

      @@3rdpig just from what I'm seeing in all corners of the 3d printing space. I could never have imagine a 400 3d printing selling last year for less than 100 bucks. Granted newer models come out making them less appealing, still. Even bambulab cut some their prices. UA-cam 3d printer reviews viewership is low. 3d printing is my hobby, so I follow it closer than others. I've followed your 3d printing stuff from way back too. Idk, we'll see if it picks up again, doubt it.

    • @cpace123
      @cpace123 5 годин тому

      I disagree. $299 is crazy cheap. It's fast, reliable(mine is). You can easily enclose the unit. It looks finished. It does not need to cloud to operate. The a1 mini also is a good buy, but it does have smaller bed. If you need multi color of course that would be the way to go. But I'm older and remember if I wanted a customer part made if could easily run into the thousands. 3d printers of almost any type today are amazing.

    • @oneanother1
      @oneanother1 3 години тому

      @@cpace123 its not a bad price, its been that price for awhile now. I'm on a creality k1, which can also be found for 300 bucks. With the k1, you do get a little more value out of it. The open source klipper firmware is nice to have. I still prefer bed slingers, still can go fast, and most are cheap nowadays.

    Those tolerances are spot on! If you have the step files maybe creating your own STL and slicing that might be the way to go. Or check out the STL in Orca by using the fix command, I have had some bad mesh data in STL files before and the fix repaired it.

    I get 1 or 2 printers every year, and I purchased the flash forge 5m. My last two. The kobra neo and neo 2. While decent printers. But I would easily replace both of those with another 5m. If I had not already purchased them this last Christmas. The flash forge 5m is so much faster. Even after install klipper on my Neo's. The quality of the prince are great. And it looked like a finished product. Have you tried Rapid PLA? It is my new favorite for high speed printers. I did do one thing and buy a stylus at the dollar store for the screen. That helps a lot.

    That little Flashforge printer seems to be a very nice unit, especially for the price. If I hadn't bought an QIDI X-Plus3 last summer to augment/replace my older Geeetech A20M, I would definitely be looking at that unit. The Qidi has a slightly bigger build volume, but not much, and I don't print large objects (or at least not often). It looks like your printer is running on Klipper, like mine, and I also added a camera...plug and play, just like yours did. Looking forward to your modification journey...

    I read somewhere that the PLA+ filament has a bit of TPU added to it, this apparently makes it more fluid. Before I got my X1 Carbon I had tried Orca slicer but I had got so used to Cura it was hard for me to use anything else, I was forced to use Bambu Studio and Orca Slicer and now I love using Orca Slicer. You should check to see if your camera works with Orca, you will need to press the little play button under the video screen on the Device page of Orca Slicer and switch the setting to HD if your camera supports 1080P, the default is 720P. Orca handles the video in real time with no latency! You know chuck it still amazes me how fast these new printers can print and yet the quality is just awesome, I guess it's because of the PAP turbo cooling fans and well part coolindesigbedg fan ducts. You should slice some of those parts for your old printers and see what the time difference is, Im guessing that first part would take around 2.5 days

  • @AndrewAHayes

    I needed to get a printer that was much faster than my existing cartesian printers and that could print high-temp materials, I was sick of Creality machines having issues that they never fixed and so I decided to go high end and I bought a Bamu Lab X1 Carbon Combo.I was impressed that they do regular updates to the FW and SW, and the reviews were very good also. The printer is awesome, it just works and the quality of the prints are perfect! That spool holder on yours looks very small! and it sounds like those leadscrews need lubricating. I sprayed a concrete paver with Plasticoat and placed that between the printer and the desk, it helps massively!

    • @3rdpig
      @3rdpig 4 дні тому

      Beats the heck out of me, send me one and I'll give it a try! Seriously, I think there would be some issues. First, I have no idea if the mounting hole is is the right size, then there's not enough room in the blade guard so that would have to be cut away, then there's the question of would the motor have enough torque to cut with a blade that's an inch bigger in diameter. And then you'd probably want to modify the stop so you don't accidentally cut through the base. I'm going with "It's probably more trouble than it's worth".

Whoever is answering questions is probably the same guy in the marketing department doing their ads and they don't have a clue about the product, they're either just going off pictures they've been shown or just making it up as they go.

      Once the arc is started it burns through paint. If the paint is thick you might have to scrape off small spots for the ground clamp and electrode. You can also buy a plasma cutter with pilot arc, then you won't need to scrape off a spot for the electrode, but you will still need a bare spot for the ground clamp.

    • @3rdpig
      @3rdpig 8 днів тому

      I agree, and it's better than TPU in some regards, such as creating a custom sized, flat sealing washer. On the FDM printer you're going to have an irregular top surface even with ironing. The resin printer leaves a perfectly smooth top and bottom layer which won't require a huge amount of squish to seal.

      Do you have the same code? Because from your description it sounds like it's doing the same thing mine was doing. If your has the same problem mine did, and from what I understand it's fairly common on the 42RE transmission, It should fix it since no matter the year they're all going to have that same pressure sensor and solenoid. Probably work on the 44RE and 46RE as well, with the correct parts.

    Chuck, I believe that you are the guy who would know this. Perhaps others too. So a while back, I landed one of these MIG 130 (flux) welders. I got it for free because the store I deal with, is amazing. I know the manager and I was asking if they had any used MIG welders as, being an electronics tech, I was looking for something to see if I could fix it. She brought out a brand new one that was sold to a customer and when he opened it, the motor didn't kick in to move the wire along. So she just gave it to me because if she sent it back to the warehouse, they'd just crush it anyway. So I get it home and test it and sure enough, pulling the trigger does not turn on the motor (no power). I checked the trigger switch and it's fine. So, being the techy type, I traced what voltage the motor runs on and applied the voltage right to the motor. The motor spun up no problem and pushed the test wire through without issue. So I realize, it's probably a MOSFET or related circuitry. But here's my question to you as I figure, you'd know this being that this is what you do. On working MIG 130 (similar to what you show here, with just the voltage and feed knobs), if you just want to test the motor, WITHOUT PUTTING A SPOOL IN, if all is r (without the spool in it??) I'm hoping that the answer is yes, because then that makes testing a lot easier. When I got it and ran tests, it was a pain to rewind the wire the it pushed out, back onto the spool. LOL *So please let me know if, without a spool in it and NOT trying to spark it up, should the motor start when trigger pulled?* Thanks in advance. I really appreciate it.

      Another question. As I watched your amazing video, I wondered about the speed that the wire comes out. Since I don't have my trigger working yet, I don't know if it's a variable speed trigger or just ON/OFF. If it's ON/OFF only, does the welder adjust the speed as you go along? Or is that one dial the speed as well and that's it? I noticed on the welder I have and am motivated to fix, that dial has a symbol, which I think means the wire speed. I don't see anything about amps, but perhaps that's just assumed??? Thanks in advance for any tip on that.

      Yes, the motor should run with no spool or wire installed. I'm sure you've already thought of it, but have you checked continuity in the wires from the trigger to the control board and/or motor? Also, check the amperage control, as it's what controls wire speed on that machine. Good luck!

      @@3rdpig I'm trying to remember how long ago I scored this welder. LOL I can't remember if it's before or during the pandemic. I would think that the very first thing I'd check is the switch and follow the wire to the control panel. I can't see not doing that as the very first thing. But once I'm done a bunch of work I have to still do, I plan on taking it out and starting to troubleshoot it. At least, I do know that the motor does work if I apply power directly and I do remember, that when I fed some wire through it, that I was able to spark it up on a piece of metal. So I suspect that it's either the trigger switch, connections, wire going from switch to the main board. But I doubt that, if memory serves. I'll recheck that when I bring it up from storage and if the switch/wires are fine and shorting the connections right on the board don't start the motor, then I'll start troubleshooting the circuitry, starting with all MOSFETS. I suspect that's were the problem is. I do really want to get this thing going, because, honestly, I hate my stick welder. It's AC, heavy as hell (transformer type). I was going to do a conversion on it to turn it into DC, but then this MIG/Flux came along. LOL

      Thanks! I just used it recently to diagnose the A/C problem on my old Jeep. While it doesn't do anything a multimeter and jumper leads can't do, it sure makes it easier to do and, at least IMO, easier to understand what's happening.

      I'd call the speaker in the V69 "barely adequate". If you want a watch with a great speaker then check out my review of the Lige T30, it's got a phenomenal speaker for a $25 smart watch and TBH, works better than the V69 and all you lose is a 1/4 inch in screen size.

    Your a halfway decent welder for an old Fart lol just kidding, I'm almost 70 been welding 60 years or so love watching welding videos, love it your a simple man with a lot of common sense! . Watched this (professional) welder he called himself . his big opinion was if you're not using gas don't bother, stick option don't even try, my stick welding is just as pretty as any mig welding & stronger & I can weld outside in windy conditions. Great video old timer keep it coming!!! I bought the Vevor 270 for my service truck power it with a Wen 11k Watt generator weld half inch steel no problem. Thanks Trader Jack

      I was once a pretty good welder. I worked for shipyards, built parts for pipelines and even welded pressure vessels for a nuclear power plant. Or maybe I was just good at passing stick welding tests. But that was all a long time ago and like anything else, when you don't practice regularly your skills, or in this case my skills, erode. I probably won't have much welding content for the next few months as I wait for the summer heat to end, welding in 110+ degree heat isn't my favorite thing to do. But I've got plans for fall and winter! Thanks for watching and commenting!

    Thanks for doing the review! I'm a retired steelworker who was looking for a cheap stick-welder & bought a Simder arc 200 from someone. If it allows me to burn hot enough to use up to 1/8" 7018, it'll serve it's intended purpose. Single knob on unit;I'll have to see if the amp control can be depressed for other settings; thanks to you addressing that feature. Then, again, I only paid $50 canadian - equal to about 50 cents U.S. 🙄 - so, I'm "hoping", not "expecting".

    • @3rdpig
      @3rdpig 17 днів тому

      If you're an experienced stick welder I'm betting you can get it to run 1/8" 7018, specially if you plug it into 220v. On 110v, you might have to drop to 3/32". I'd appreciate it if you'd let me know what you think after you've had a chance to run it. I gave mine away and I'm sort of regretting it. It's not like I have any lack of welders, but that was just so small and handy to keep in the back of my Jeep. Good luck!
